Home Essentials
Two everyday pieces earned a spot in Home Essentials, and thirty candidates did not.
A ceramic soap dish with drainage and a woven seagrass laundry basket are the only two items we keep in this line. Both sat in a staff bathroom or laundry room for a month before either went on the site.
Home Essentials is the smallest category we run, and it stays that way on purpose. A ceramic soap dish with drainage and a woven seagrass laundry basket cover two problems that come up in almost every house: a bar of soap that sits in its own puddle, and a laundry hamper that either sags, splits, or looks like it belongs in a utility closet rather than a bedroom.
The soap dish is stoneware, ridged on the base so water runs to a channel instead of pooling under the bar. It comes in four glaze colors, all inside the same warm, muted palette the rest of the catalog uses — nothing that will clash with a bathroom you've already decorated. The laundry basket pairs a seagrass weave over a powder-coated steel frame with a cotton liner that lifts out for washing, which matters more than it sounds: a liner you can throw straight into the machine is the difference between a basket that gets used and one that gets ignored after a month.
We looked at porcelain dishes without drainage and rejected them after two weeks — the bar turned to mush on one side. We looked at wicker baskets without a liner and rejected those too; loose fibers work into wet or lint-heavy laundry and end up on your clothes. Both problems are common enough that we won't sell either version, drainage-free or liner-free, even if a customer specifically asks for the cheaper option.
This is a small, curated home goods catalog by design, not by accident. We would rather carry two pieces we've used ourselves for a season than twenty we've only seen in a supplier photo.

Every inquiry goes to the same six-person team that packs the order. Ask for a fifth glaze color or a longer liner and we'll tell you straight if we can get it, rather than take the order and figure it out later.
